The sacred image of Cristo del Amor (Iglesia del Divino Salvador, Seville) is yet another masterpiece of Juan de Mesa (1620) and perhaps one of the most beautiful Crucifixion imagery in Seville.
It is brought out to procession on Palm Sunday evening in silence (without accompanying band music) by the Confraternity or #HermandaddelAmor (Seville), founded in 1508 at the Church of St. James with the aim of helping prisoners in Seville. It has around 1,150 Nazarenes accompanying the processional float.
