HERMANDAD DE LA PASIÓN (Seville)

In Seville, different confraternities “hermandades” give an opportunity to the faithful to venerate the sacred images much closer. The sacred image is brought down from the altar so the faithful could take a closer look, pray and kiss the feet of Our Lord, represented by the image. This event is called the Solemn Kissing of the Foot or “Solemne Besapié”.

These photos show the image of Nuestro Señor Jesús de la Pasión, a masterpiece of Juan Martínez Montañés (1610-1615), taken today.

Lord Jesus, our sincerest and most heartfelt gratitude for all you have done for us. Forgive us our sins and help us follow you faithfully and love you more each day with concrete deeds. If we stray away out of our weakness, have pity on us and help us return to you as soon as possible with a humble and contrite heart. Lord Jesus, you know all things, you know that we love you!
