Enjoy this jaw-dropping masterpiece of Pierre Dancart, who together with Jorge Fernández Alemán, Roque Balduque y Juan Bautista Vázquez el Viejo, made the main altarpiece of the Seville Cathedral, considered one of the finest altarpieces in the world.

The “retablo mayor” depicts different scenes of the life of Our Lord Jesus Christ and Our Lady. It was the only way to catechize during those times, presenting images to the faithful to know more about the Catholic faith.

It is impressive as well how the artisans of those times took very good care of the little details  even if from below one could not appreciate them just to show that all were done for the glory of God!

I took the video after the Oct. 30, 2016 Mass of Thanksgiving for the Canonization of San Manuel Gonzales, a new Sevillian saint.

A Blessed Sunday and week ahead to you and your loved ones!

Fr. Rolly Arjonillo, priest of Opus Dei.
