Pope Francis
APOLOGIZING AND FORGIVING STRENGTHEN AND UNITE THE FAMILY.
Dear friends, last Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, Pope Francis encouraged us to live the season of Lent as a privileged time to forgive those who have offended us and forget as well the injuries suffered, overcoming grudges but above all imitating God the Father who forgives and at the same time forgets our trespasses.
With this advice, I remembered Pope Francis’ words pronounced in his General Audience last Nov. 4, 2015 when he said:
“WE CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT FORGIVING ONE ANOTHER, OR AT LEAST WE CANNOT LIVE WELL, ESPECIALLY IN THE FAMILY. Every day we wrong one another. We must take these mistakes into account, which are due to our fragility and our egoism.”
At the same time, he stressed THE NECESSITY OF LEARNING HOW TO ACKNOWLEDGE ONE’S MISTAKES AND APOLOGISE.
“IF WE LEARN TO APOLOGIZE IMMEDIATELY AND TO FORGIVE ONE ANOTHER, THE WOUNDS HEAL, THE MARRIAGE IS STRENGTHENED, AND THE FAMILY BECOMES AN EVER MORE SOLID HOME.” Hence, we patch up differences as soon as possible. We should not end the day without asking forgiveness. We should “not end the day in war”.
Let us ask Most Blessed Trinity with the help of Mary and Joseph so that we may always acknowledge our faults, apologize and forgive as well so that our family may be solid and united in love.
Holy Family of Nazareth, may our families may rediscover the treasure of mutual forgiveness!
